The Beginning

The Justice Patrol, Global Alliance and Maximum Order gathered together in the LION WAR ROOM. Jay and Neil King, also known as the Blur, took a moment to glare at one another before sitting with their respective teams. Malak put a hand on his shoulder and Jay patted it, assuring his friend that he was fine.
Once everybody was seated, Sophia Cynaburg and Mary Crossenberg walked in front of them.
"Hello everybody. I'm glad to see you're all here." Sophia said to them. "The reason we've gathered all of you together is that we have a series of missions that require each of your special skills." Sophia began and the Viewer Screen behind them turned on, showing three military bases. "Recently, our sources have identified three military bases which, on top of highly illegal activity, we believe to be allied with the Labyrinth Organization." Mary explained and the first of the military base images was enlarged to fill the screen.  The Arctic Base in Cecluaque is a serious cause for concern. We have identified a mad German scientist named Yvonne Hanseleman who had previously conducted illegal research on metahumans as being in charge of the base."
"I think I've heard of her." Stronghold said. "Let's see...where was it...ummmm, yeah. I think it was about five years ago. The DNA-Diktator right? I thought she was dead."
"She's supposed to be. Yvonne was shot dead by Nemesis as a result of a feud between the two of them. Her body was identified at a morgue and then double-checked by us prior to cremation." Sophia explained. "Which means either this is a clone or the previous Yvonne was. Either way, it doesn't change things. She has resumed her experiments on captured meta-humans. We have reason to believe that she has found a way to control them against their will as well."
"We've got a number of psychics on our team." Ultra Girl said. "If there's a way to free them, we'll find it."
"I know you will, Ultra." Mary gave a slight smile before returning to her usual expression. "Hence why the Justice Patrol is the team that has been selected for this mission."
A few of the members whooped and some high-five each other before Mary cleared her throat and they calmed down.
"What are we up against?" Dinah asked. "How many are there?"
"That's the biggest number." Sophia paused for a moment. "We are looking at close to a thousand enemy soldiers, maybe more. Not counting the tanks."
"Over a thousand soldiers huh?" Hank did the numbers in his head. "That's about 23 soldiers for each of us."
"Their big mistake was putting the base in a snowy area." Frost smirked. "I'm gonna have a field day there."
"Snow is water." Ultratide leaned back. "This is gonna be fun."
"I'm just happy it's not in a jungle. A nice cold area is going to feel so much better." Ferral said.
Ophelia held his hand. "Try being cold blooded. I might be sticking by the pyros until we get inside."
"I can keep you warm."
"Wait until it's over."
Derrick turned to Cecil. "Hey, hey man, will you be okay? I'm not sure how snow affects sound and stuff."
"Thanks for your concern, but once the party starts, it's gonna be noisier than a metal concert. I'll be able to navigate it without a problem."
"Cool. Pound it." Cecil and Derrick pounded their fists.
"Air defenses?" Sable asked.
"Gun towers manned by 88mm pulse rifles." Sophia explained.
"Dibs!" Fenrir grinned and breathed smoke out of his nostrils.
"Want any help dealing with them?" Malak asked.
"The more the merrier."
"In that case, our fliers will be dealing with them and taking them out to take the pressure off our ground forces." Roc said. "You guys up for that?"
The fliers on the team smiled in response.
"Good to know."
"Ultra, John, Sura, Carm and I can handle the tanks." Matthew said. "They might have power, but we've got speed."
"And good luck to any tank hurting me." John bragged.
"So the mission is: Infiltrate the base, take out the guards, free the meta-humans and capture the loonybin scientist. Right?" Jape asked.
"And find out who she has been working with and if she has shipped out any of her subjects and to who." Sophia explained.
"Understood ma'am. We'll take this base down hard."
"OORAH!"The team agreed.
"That's the spirit kids."
"I love your enthusiasm, but please remember to take this mission seriously. You will be fighting for your lives in there. Understood?!"
"YES MA'AM!"
"Good. Now, onto the next base in the Patrington Jungle. This one is the most heavily armed, so the Alliance will be taking it down."
"What are we looking at?" Justice asked.
"An army of super-villains, super weapons and mutated wildlife and insects." Mary grinned.
Justice and Lightspeed wordlessly high-fived.
"We've got this." Power Woman smiled.
"And as for The Order?" Drusilla asked eagerly.
"You are being sent off to the Sararq Mountains. You see..."
As Mary outlined the Mission, Drusilla was elsewhere. She was there physically, but on the inside, she was remembering her last visit there.

The field is littered with carnage, bodies and destruction. Red, gray and pink are the new colors of what was once a delicate, tender field, which has now become the stage of a full-blown invasion.
The air which would normally be delicate and quiet is now merely a canvas for the stench of death and the cries of the dying, a sight of pure nightmares. Two armies fight each other over a mere difference in lifestyle and belief, but it's becoming clear which side will win. The wounded of the losing side are abundant and lay in heaps around the field and the faces of the fighters are grim with horror and agony, but they refuse to give up. With a certainty of victory the winning side fights as if they're invinsible. Some have succumbed to blood lust and are killing any enemy they see in a fury of blood and gore, while others fight by only focusing on their enemy and not the carnage around them. The toll on both nature and humanity is tragic. It'll likely take ages before this field will have recovered. It's clear debris, gore and weaponry have taken the place of bushes, bushes and trees. Amidst all of this chaos, a young girl, barely 11 years old, her red hair hanging down in front of her eyes, blending in with the blood on her face. her small outfit is covered in dirt and grime. She watches the soldiers die and scream around her and as she lifts up her gun once again, she begins to laugh.

"Back there huh? This is going to be pleasant." She says to herself and pushes it out of her head as Drusilla focuses on the meeting again.

"So does everyone understand their assignments?"
"YES MA'AM!"
"Alright! Everyone, grab your suits, gear up and make your strategies. You have 1 hour to get ready and then Operation Powder Snow, Operation Jungle Garden and Operation Gray Obelisk will move out! Meeting Adjourned!"

The heroes saluted and then exited the war room. Duchess caught up with Drusilla. "Hey! Hey, is everything alright? You seemed kinda...out back in the room."
"Oh, yeah, just...you know, reminiscing. Thanks for asking."
